Getting Spiced Up. Where Did It All Start?
Way before 2020 when Black Moons Rise was birthed, I was mixing concoctions of spices, drinks and food since I was in third grade living in Chicago, Il. Chicago is known as a city full of flavors and cultural diversity, what a better place to start.
I remember coming home from St. Thomas school in the afternoons thinking what I am going to munch on today. You see my mom was known for leaving crazy snacks for us out on the counter. They weren't the NORMAL snacks that a child would have, these snacks were adult snacks in my mind. We were given sardines, potted meat (Underwood Devil Ham), plain crackers, liverwurst, those tiny hot dogs that were called Vienna sausages and let's not forget water. So, fulfilling right? As I remember now.
I remember coming home from school one day looking forward to my afterschool snacks. What would I get today? I remember mom didn't leave anything in particular. So, I decided on a snack of cheese puffs, but not like the ones we have today where there are numerous flavors, and the puffs weren't actually puffy. And nobody could call anything a snack without a bologna sandwich. So now the sandwich was made, and I got to figure out what to do with these dry, tasteless cheese puffs.
Boom my first dip was created. I mixed up some vinegar, mustard, ketchup and pickle relish. Yep, it was that simple. I'm a chef now with a smile on my face and laughter in my soul, I thought as dipped my cheese snacks into this heavily, delicious dip. To date I've made this mix several times and used it on chips, burgers and it has never disappointed me. I've since evolved over the years as worked at my aunt's rib joint (MarGo's Ribs) in Sterling, Il and watching my mom cook in the kitchen.
Now years later I decided to be become a small, local business that strives to bring amazing flavors to every product that's mixed. It touches my heart when I meet new clients and they tell me how much they enjoyed Black Moons Rise spice blends. Do yourself, your taste buds a favor and go online to place an order. You can also come visit Black Moons Rise at local events throughout the Central Texas region.
